April in Michigan!

4/6/2018

Happy Friday Everyone! April is here and that means spring is right around the corner.......well, it's supposed to be anyway! True to fashion, Michigan weather is quite unpredictable and we've been getting more snow the past couple of days. Even though I am quite anxious for sunshine and green grass, I had to admit that the snow covered trees were so beautiful as I looked out the windows this morning!

We've still got our taps out and it looks like after a bit of sunshine yesterday, our buckets are full enough to get the stoves started up and running again today. It sure takes a lot of effort to boil down maple syrup! David has spent many hours and late nights the past couple of weeks keeping the stoves going -- not to mention cutting the wood, cleaning pans and filtering the finished syrup -- but boy, I am so thankful when we get to enjoy some delicious maple syrup!! The children enjoy helping too, and it's been fun to all work together on it. I'm pretty sure it tastes 100 times better when you've made it yourself! :) We now have some bottled and in the store, so if you get the hankering to enjoy some pancakes on this snowy April morning, stop on by and we'll send you home with some!!

I am not trying to curse anyone but I think it would be very unfair if none of the people who have hurt me in the past is going to suffer. I don't wish for anything bad to happen to anyone but I think the only way some people will understand the gravity of their offense is when the hurt they caused someone else gets redirected to them. Right now I am trying to forget about it. I just closed my eyes and imagine we have a dining table with cool chairs and we have a cook.

David is a lover of old stuff. Ever since he was a small boy, he has enjoyed rooting through old barns, scrap piles and junk heaps looking for some forgotten treasure. He has a knack for seeing beauty in the unexpected. His heart for his Savior, his family and other people, far exceeds his love of antiques, though, and his No. 1 passion is to raise a strong godly family!

    Mary Shell
Wife, mommy, teacher, secretary and more. She enjoys being in the background making sure everything is running semi-smoothly. Life stays busy with our house full, but she wouldn't trade it for the world!

    Aaron Shell
Right hand man, friend and very talented brother to David. Aaron has put in so much time and talent helping us get to where we are today. He and his wife, Esther, have one son and live nearby.
